Sometimes Chasing Rainbows, you Catch Tornadoes

I've taken thousands of storm clouds and rainbows, but on May 18, 1989, I witnessed an F1 Tornado develop as I filmed and shot stills of it

Non-Reporting Gauges on the Rio Grande

Alert: River Gauges Along the Rio Grande…The gauges seem to be failing like dominoes. As of today (Wednesday, 10-23), Candelaria, Presidio Intl Bridge, Redford, Lajitas Crossing, Terlingua Creek Gauging Stations) are Not Reporting.

ALERT: USGS, USACE, and NOAA are currently investigating an issue that is impacting acquisition of stream gage data. The issue is impacting a subset of USGS and USACE equipment throughout the nation. We apologize for the service interruption and hope to have the data restored as soon as possible.

The above alert has been posted on the NWS, NOAA and USGS sites for several (days/weeks?) now.

Yesterday, the above listed gauges were reporting (except Lajitas which has been out of service for years).

As of a few minutes ago, Castolon, Johnson Ranch, Boquillas Crossing, 14 mi. S of Dryden and Foster Ranch are still reporting.

Look at this forecast for Foster Ranch…

You can access all the gauges along the Rio in Big Bend here.
